Hi All! We arrived safely in Carrefour yesterday (after surviving the chaotic airport!). Our drive from Port Au Prince to the place where we are staying was humbling. We began our VBS ministry this morning. The women in our group had the opportunity to lead an impromptu Bible study with a small group of Haitian moms who struggle with the same things as we do in raising their kids. Just got back a while ago from prayer walking in this part of the "city". The Haitians are loving Godly people and have blessed us all to the point of tears. We are going to church tonight and one of us will actually be doing the preaching! We will do the VBS every morning and then in the afternoon do different things. We get a lot of group time together, which is cool. The kids/teens in the group are doing GREAT. What a blessing to have each one of them along to connect with all the kids we are coming in contact with.
Living conditions are "simple" to say the least. Most of us are sleeping outside. We do not have electricity, apparently it is run by the government and they decide when to turn it on. We do have a generator but do not use it but a fews hours a day. The nights are full of roosters crowing and loud music! The food is GREAT...can't beat a mango that has just fallen from the tree!! Somehow the simplicity of this country is contagious. We feel lifted up by all of you and we are SO grateful! We are reminded often to be aware of satan's power trying to weed its way in to our group, so we just keep claiming Jesus to have his way!
Because of the lack of electricity we may not be able to post often. So au revior (bye) for now.
