Visiting the orphanage in Haiti gave me whole new meaning to the love of Christ. My whole team was eager to love, hug, play, and spend time with each child. When we arrived to the orphanage for the first time, I could feel God working on my heart. As I spent time making flowers out of pipe cleaners with the children, I started to learn from them. I would say “flower” and they would repeat it back to me in Creole. I began to put small connections together of their language, same as they had done with me. But then God said to me “see how they are learning from your words? Look at how much more they are learning about my love just through your actions!” I’ve learned that although there is a language barrier, we all can share and understand the universal love language that has ultimately been demonstrated to us by Jesus Christ.
