One member of our team last week had the hardest time getting to Haiti. She had delay after delay and then finally ending up staying an extra night in Miami before making it to her destination to join us. I’m convinced this was Satan trying to discourage her.
She was changed. Her experience in Haiti was full of her pouring out love on every kid she met. Some she became very attached to a couple of them and they to her. She opened up to her team about her struggles. She prayed. She listened. She pushed in close to hear the voice of God and He told her she needed to be baptized.
On our free day, we went to the beach and she did just that. I am just going to quote her below as it is such a beautiful declaration to her Father.
“I get confused and I hurt because this life is so unfair. I weep, Lord, because you have blessed me with the most precious life. You have given me a life that I do not deserve, a life that is so full of love and laughter, a life where I am surrounded by family and friends who worship you. Thank you, Jesus, for showing me that nothing else matters besides you. For forcing me outside of my comfort zone to let it all go in order to let you in. I am yours and you are mine//Baptized.” – Karlie Carpenter
